The sprawling amount and variety of ideas in this film are enough alone to make this worthwhile.
Spencer (Movie Review)
As far as this reviewer is concerned, Spencer could have been filled with two melancholy hours of Stewart’s Diana roaming the foggy moor of the Sandringham Estate, and I would have loved every second. The fact that it contains one of the most emotionally impactful and psychologically rich stories of the year is simply a bonus. Your appreciation for this film’s glimpse into Diana’s mindset will entirely depend on what you hope to get out of a biopic. Do you want a highly accurate, meticulously researched play-by-play of the events of Diana’s life? If so, you may find yourself disappointed with Spencer. However, If you want a creative, artistic interpretation which attempts to capture the essence of Diana’s personhood, you just might fall in love with this film.
