It’s a crazy week at Dice headquarters here in Michigan, so just a few thoughts on last night’s Idol offering as we prepare to give back tonight (I wasn’t going to, but then David Cook wrote it on his hand, so now I have to).

As far as the show goes it was another mediocre night in what has become the season of mediocre in my opinion. Sure, there has been one great performance (Cook’s Billie Jean) and a few good ones but overall, it’s just a blah season for me. The only standout of the night for me, for the second week in a row, was Castro, whose “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” was pretty stellar. Everyone else? Hmmm, let’s go with “listenable”.

My personal overall ranking:

1.) David Cook
2.) Brooke White
3.) David Archuletta
4.) Jason Castro
5.) Syesha Mercado
6.) Carly Smithson
7.) Michael Johns
8.) Kristy Lee Cook

Going Home:

Well, if you follow the alternating gender theory then it’s one of the four guys exiting tomorrow. The problem with this theory is that Archuletta isn’t going anywhere for a while, and in such a toss up season the best performances probably get a decent vote boost, meaning that Castro is likely safe as well. That leaves Johns and Cook and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Cook had a very forgettable performance and is in exactly that space where everyone thinks he is safe so nobody votes for him. In other words, if I guy goes home tonight, I’m betting it’s David Cook. My final prediction? A bottom three that includes Cook, Syesha, and Carly. With a very surprised Carly going home and DC eeking it out to live another day.

Winning:

Brooke.
