Two going home tonight, eh? Wow, that adds a new element to the voting, especially with so many votes coming in last week. In a way it doesn’t quite seem fair. Won’t the voting be weighted toward last week’s performance? Either way, these will be the first eliminations without the threat of Sanjaya in the house so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Ratings

Phil Stacey – “Blaze of Glory” (A)
Wow, Phil is catching his stride. That’s 3 weeks in a row now that I have been very impressed with him. Can he win? Not likely, but he’s certainly gone from also ran to contender pretty fast.

Jordin Sparks – “Livin’ On a Prayer” (C-)
I like Jordin, but that was the definition of bad karaoke. Not a good week for Jordin.

Lakisha Jones – “This Ain’t a Love Song” (A)
That was great. Classic Lakisha. Even so, I’m convinced either her or Jordin is going home tonight.

Blake Lewis – “You Give Love a Bad Name” (A++)

My favorite Idol performance of the night, the year, and possibly the entire history of Idol. Wow, simply, wow.

Chris Richardson – “Wanted Dead or Alive” (B-)
Well, at least I know now that the nasal tone is intentional, so were the intonation problems also purposeful? OK, it wasn’t that bad, but compared to the others, doesn’t cut it.
Melinda Doolittle – “Have a Nice Day” (A)
Honestly, I don’t think that song showcased Mindy Doo’s incredible talent. Sure she was great, and her pre performance interviews are always the greatest, but there just wasn’t enough to that one. Still, she is amazing.

Predictions:

Well, personally I think Sanjaya should go home tonight, but with… Wait… Sorry. Force of habit. It’s hard to say with the week split up between the two weeks how this will end up but my gut says either Lakisha or Jordin is one elimination and either Chris or Phil is the other. My hope is that it is Chris and Jordin but I’m going to say it will be Chris and Lakisha because of the way the votes were done. However, a final four of Melinda, Lakisha, Blake, and Phil sounds awful good to me. What do you think?

  1. They were playing that toothpick/lifesaver game from every summer camp ever.

Kidding of course. Simon said he could kiss her for her performance so he did.

The picture does strike me as one of those that people right funny captions for: Here’s mine:

“Simon, knowing his responsibility as the mama bird, feeds Lakisha her daily meal.”
