Another year has come and gone, and with it 173 films have entered my field of vision telling me all kinds of stories. Which ones stuck with me the most? Which ones am I most excited to see again? Which ones made me feel like a six year old kid again, making light saber noises, and raising goosebumps the size of X-Wings? OK, so maybe that last one was just one movie, but you get the idea. It’s time to list in order my 41 favorite films of 2015, or as I like to call it, my Fave 41.
The Fave 41 has be a staple of Your movie Friend since 2001, making this the 15th annual descent into the insanity of declaring one subjective piece of art more likable than another. And yet somehow that’s what makes these conversations the most fun. So let me have it. Which movies are missing? Which movies are too high? Too Low? Which movies are the ones you can’t believe made the list at all? I look more forward to hearing about which movies you loved this year even more than listing my own.
Oh, and to answer the question everyone asks…
Because I just like the number.
So let the conversation begin!
But before we get to the list, one quick clarification. This list is personal and subjective. I hold no secret knowledge on what makes one piece of art more valuable or important than any other, except the impact it had on me and my connection to the story. I can recognize the things that might connect to others and the general principles of “good movie making”, but we are all different unique beings with experiences, tastes, and world views that naturally impact what we are drawn to. It’s really the beauty of the whole thing. These 41 movies are MY favorites, the ones I would be most excited to see again, the ones that gave me joy, taught me something, and made me think. Your list might be completely different and I not only think that’s wonderful, that’s why I would love to hear what movies were your faves as well.
Here, in order, and linked to the full review, are my favorite 41 movies of 2015.

I’m surprised War Room isn’t on the list. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.
