Sometimes you have to be careful you don’t turn complex into confusing. Reitman’s use of satire and metaphor can walk that line. Which side does he come down on with “Young Adult”? (Review addition: I meant to include how amazing both Theron’s and Oswalt’s performances were but got sidetracked talking about the plot, point being, they were really good in this.)
Theron gives a terrific performance. She elevates the movie by demonstrating her versatility. She almost makes you feel sympathetic towards this blonde, beautiful and sharp-witted anti-heroine. Oswalt deserves consideration for supporting actor as well. Great review. Check out mine when you can.
